Biography<\/strong>: Ana was born and raised in Irrigon, Oregon, and graduated High School in 2022. She arrived at EOU that same fall and quickly sought ways to get involved on campus. She was selected to serve as the ASEOU Director for Political Affairs, and in her term, she facilitated the revitalization of EOU’s MountainQueers club.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unfortunately, life took Ana away from the La Grande campus and she now resides in Bellingham, Washington. Converting to a remote student, Ana has had the opportunity to experience first-hand the complications that being a long-distance learner brings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Outside of her studies, Ana is a property manager for Indigo Real Estate Services. Her efforts support primarily low-income individuals in finding and maintaining stable housing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In her free time, you can find Ana on a local tennis court, enjoying a hike, or soaking in the sporadic PNW sunshine.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Biography:<\/span> <\/strong>Dr. Geagon was born and raised in Silver City, New Mexico where she completed her undergraduate degree at Western New Mexico University. Dr. Geagon is a very passionate and seasoned academic who has earned tenure at New Mexico Highlands University, Saint Martin\u2019s University, and earned a teaching award from Indiana Institute of Technology. Dr. Geagon is dedicated to teaching adult learners how to use rational, logical, systematic, science-based techniques to improve decisions that solve managerial problems and expand organizational excellence. Her students are encouraged to think critically and ethically as they challenge the status quo with the objective of contributing to positive social change.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Biography<\/strong>: Oreng Kikuo is a senior student raised in the Republic of Palau, studying English\/Writing. She graduated from Palau Community College with an Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts studies in 2021, and transferred to ¾¨Ó㴫ý in 2023, enrolling as a student in the university’s Summer Bridge Program. Since then she has held many student leadership roles on campus, such as becoming Editor-in-Chief for EOU’s Science and Social Science Journals, joining the university’s Navigator’s club, and becoming lead mentor for the Summer Bridge Program. Additionally, Oreng has received invitations to attend and speak at various nationally recognized conferences such as the Conference on Community Writing 2023 in Denver, Colorado, The Conference on College Composition on Communication in Spokane, Washington, and the National Conference on Race and Ethnicity in Honolulu, Hawaii, where she was one of twenty-five nation-wide recipients for the Dick Hilbert Student Scholar Award. Having grown up in Palau, Oreng has very much enjoyed exploring places that she has only read about, and has since taken every opportunity to try new things and see where they lead her.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Occupation:<\/strong> <\/span>Retired orthopedic surgeon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Biography<\/strong>: Brad established his orthopedic surgery practice in La Grande in 1975 and was the team physician for EOU, helping teach courses on athletic injuries. In 1993 he was named Medical Director of the United State Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid, New York. He returned to Eastern Oregon in 2007 and settled in Wallowa County, where he practiced until 2014. He has served as Secretary to the EOU Foundation Board of Directors for the past two years and is the Chair of Wallowa Resources, a nonprofit dedicated to sustaining the working landscape in Wallowa County.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Biography:<\/strong> An Alumna of EOU, Cheryl taught in the Powder Valley School District for 27 years. She was awarded Oregon Middle School Science Teacher of the Year and Conservation Teacher of the year.  She served on the Oregon Science Teacher Board, was president of Baker County Chamber of Commerce and serves on the executive board for Oregon Cattlemen’s Association.  She owns and operates the VP Ranch in North Powder and is the sixth generation to live and ranch in the Powder Valley.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Biography<\/strong>: Deidre is an eastern Oregon native, born and raised in Wallowa County on her family\u2019s cattle ranch. She graduated from Enterprise High School in 2019 and served as the 2019-2020 Oregon FFA State Secretary. She is attending ¾¨Ó㴫ý as part of the Oregon State University Agriculture and Natural Resources program, where she will graduate with her Bachelor of Agricultural Science. Deidre plans to obtain her Master of Business Administration. Currently, she serves as the student director of the Oregon State University Agriculture and Natural Resources program and the ¾¨Ó㴫ý Ag Club President.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Biography:<\/span> <\/strong>Anna was born and raised in Italy and came to the US for a Postdoctoral appointment at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.  After working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Memphis, she moved west and joined the Center for Process Analytical Chemistry at the University of Washington where she conducted research on non-destructive methods of analyses.  In 1992 she moved to La Grande and has been working at EOU since then, teaching a variety of chemistry and sciences courses.  She has received several research and\/or educational grants that have allowed to establish a strong research program involving undergraduate students. Anna is passionate about encouraging women and underrepresented minorities to pursue science careers.  She has been the faculty mentor of the EOU Chemistry Club for almost twenty years promoting community outreach activities such as Girls in Science and Saturday Science that have garnered multiple awards by the American Chemical Society (ACS).  She currently serves as the Program Chair for the ACS Division of Analytical Chemistry, leading the organization of the Division\u2019s technical program at ACS national meetings.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Lara Moore (2022-2023)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Occupation<\/strong>: Co-President, ¾¨Ó㴫ý<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Biography:<\/strong> A native of Eastern Oregon, Moore was raised in Elgin, and later graduated from ¾¨Ó㴫ý in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science. She went on to earn a Master of Business Administration from Marylhurst University in 2011. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moore began working at EOU in 2003 where she held various positions within the Division of Finance and Administration and has served as interim director for several areas including Financial Aid, Director of Facilities and Planning, Human Resources Director, and Director of Business Affairs. Currently, she serves as Vice President of Finance and Administration, and has held that position since 2014. As vice president, Moore plays a key role in the comprehensive transformation of the university\u2019s finances, including overseeing $25 million in capital investments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, alongside her duties as Co-President and Vice President of Finance and Administration, Moore acts as the university\u2019s primary representative to the Higher Education Coordinating Commission for all state operating funding and funding models, as well as capital project funding. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moore is currently a member of the Oregon VPFA Council, and the Oregon Public Universities Insurance and Risk Management Trust. During her tenure, she has served as chair for both organizations.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Bill Johnson (2015-2023)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Education:<\/strong> Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Bachelor of Science in Aeronautics and Astronautics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Occupation:<\/strong>  Owner of Sage Farms; a multi-faceted farm in the Treasure Valley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Biography:<\/strong> Raised in Vale, Oregon, Bill studied Aeronautical Engineering at MIT. He joined Microsoft after college where he was program manager for early versions of Microsoft Excel. Later, he served as a Vice President at InterNAP, an internet routing optimization firm. In 2005 he created Sage Farms, which quickly expanded into one of the largest row crop operations in the Treasure Valley. In 2017 he sold the farm and established Loft Property Management, the largest provider of multi-family housing in the Western Treasure Valley.

He is a founding member of Malheur County Poverty to Prosperity, is a trustee at ¾¨Ó㴫ý and serves on several other business and civic boards. Bill enjoys flying his airplane, riding his bicycle, and playing tennis with his wife Kathy.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Biography:<\/strong> Chris is a sixth-generation Oregonian and a native of Baker City, who now resides in Portland. He retains a strong connection to eastern Oregon, where much of his family continues to live and work. He has worked for over twenty years in public sector management. As a policy and legislative expert, he has served at the local, state, and federal levels and played a leading role in many of Oregon and Portland\u2019s most consequential transportation policy initiatives. He enjoys spending time with his wife State Representative Barbara Smith Warner and their two children, exploring the natural beauty and cultural treasures of Oregon.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Over the past 35 years, he founded three companies, developed business and technology solutions, and received numerous recognitions from his customers and business partners for excellent service. In 2011, CCI was named Business of the Year by the Baker County Chamber of Commerce.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Biography<\/strong>: Roberta has been the Director of the Tam\u00e1stslikt Cultural Institute since 1998. She is a well-published writer and lecturer on cultural preservation issues and mentors young scholars who are interested in tribal cultural preservation. In 2007 she received the Ecotrust Indigenous Leadership Award for her work representing the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation (CTUIR).<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Biography<\/strong>: Karyn was born in Roseburg and raised in Washington. She was thrilled to return to the area as an EOU faculty member in 2006 after several years of living in Texas. At EOU, Karyn has served on multiple shared governance committees and spent several years as the Director of Educator Preparation for the College of Education. In addition to her faculty teaching, Karyn has a total of 19 years of elementary teaching experience. She has volunteered as a state and national site visitor for the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission and the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation. Karyn participates in the community as a board member for the K-House campus ministry and as a classroom volunteer whenever possible. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Biography<\/strong>: Following a prestigious career at Dow Chemical, Dr. Mendoza returned to eastern Oregon in 2001 to enjoy his retirement. In 2004, he began teaching at his alma mater as an Assistant Professor of Chemistry and retired from this position in 2014. He is an inventor and holds 28 patents. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Biography:<\/strong> Susan is a lifelong Pendleton resident. She has volunteered with many organizations including the Pendleton Arts Council and as President of the EOU Foundation. In 2016 she received the Al and Pat Reser Civic Leadership Award. Her family has many long-time ties to the region, including Mac Hoke. Her daughter is an EOU online alumna, and Susan is proud of EOU\u2019s commitment to transfer and online students. “I want EOU to become very successful because I feel like it\u2019s a gem to the region.”<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Keller also has extensive international teaching experience. He has more than 29 scholarly articles published in academic and professional journals and won several Best Research Paper awards from international academic conferences. In addition to his teaching, Keller practices his academic skills as a consultant, trainer and facilitator on strategy, project management, and process improvement serving clients on 6 continents.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Biography<\/strong>: Jer assisted the City of Hermiston, Blue Mountain Community College and EOU with efforts to design and secure funding for the Eastern Oregon Education Center in Hermiston. He also helped guide the Hermiston School District to passage of a $69 million building bond. Biography: <\/strong>Helen is a classified employee at EOU, where she has been employed since 1980. She has been active in the Shared Governance process and served in the local and statewide leadership for SEIU 503 for over 20 years. Helen and her daughter are both graduates of the History Program at ¾¨Ó㴫ý and her grandson is a current student at EOU pursuing a degree in Anthropology\/Sociology.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Biography: <\/span>Nicole is involved with many clubs and organizations, including serving as President of Latino Impact. She is also a member of the International Student Association and is an EOU Ambassador. Her goal as a trustee is to advocate for the success and well-being of students to help lead the university toward a promising future.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Occupation: <\/span>Professor of Anthropology at ¾¨Ó㴫ý.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Biography<\/strong>: Linda brings her relationships with regional tribes and federal and state agencies through her work as an applied anthropologist and professor to her new role as a trustee.  She has professional connections with the business community as a Rotarian, detailed knowledge of the Associated Academic Professionals contract, ability to work with EOU faculty across the colleges, and a commitment to provide quality education to students in the region.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Biography: <\/span>Holly’s first job after college was as an admissions counselor at her alma mater. Today she draws on her expertise in management, marketing and promotion operating two personal businesses. She is a current member of EOU\u2019s Malheur County Advisory Board, EOU President’s Circle and Mountaineer Athletic Association. Holly also served on the EOU Foundation Board and is Past-President of the EOU Alumni Association and remains a member.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Occupation<\/span>: Assistant Professor of Education and Secondary Education Program Coordinator at EOU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Biography: <\/span>Prior to joining EOU’s faculty in 2004, Ray taught high school history and English for 30 years, was an adjunct history professor and served as a consultant for California\u2019s Department of Education. He is currently working on a joint program where students can earn college credit through project-based learning and international travel.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Biography<\/strong>: Patricia is a classified employee at EOU and member of SEIU 503 Local #081 for the past six years. She is currently serving her second term as Vice President of the local SEIU chapter. Prior to joining EOU, she was a civil engineering technician for the Wallowa Whitman National Forest. She has a total of 24 years of civil service and union affiliation. In 2014 she completed the Oregon Labor Candidate School Program and intends to run for mayor of Greenhorn in 2016. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
